Music From Japan

The Seventh Season

For the third year in a row, Music From Japan presented large scale orchestral works by Japanese composers performed by the American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall–this time on February 24th. Paul Zukofsky was once again featured on violin, and Hiroko Nakamura was featured on piano. That year, the American Symphony Orchestra was under the baton of Kenneth Schermerhorn. The featured composers included Kiyoshige Koyoma, Maki Ishii, Teruyuki Noda, and Akio Yashiro. The concert was favorably reviewed by the New York Times: “The pieces, neither extreme in idiom nor earth-shaking, were amiable and easy to listen to and went together nicely.”
